The (Zero Waste) Cashmere Cushion Workshop

Use a longarm quilting machine to stitch a 100% cashmere cushion.

This course is run in collaboration with Maker and Producer who are a Bridgeton-based social enterprise who take surplus fabric from scarf and blanket manufacture which they then sell to reinvest the profits in Glasgow’s people. This is a truly ethical enterprise, and what’s amazing is that this is some of the highest quality cashmere money can buy. It is made using ethically farmed goats in Mongolia and then woven in Ayr.

In this course you’ll use various sizes of surplus cashmere to make a collage or layered cushion which you will then stitch using the longarm. It is ideal as a way to have a trial go at the longarm prior to booking in to make a quilt.

Leave with two squares of fabric to sew into a cushion at home. Alternatively, leave it with me and I’ll add a zip so you can pick up the finished piece at a later point. Add piping to the finished cushion for an extra £10
